KUCHING: Sarawak is currently experiencing the Southwest monsoon season which is expected to last until September.
A spokesperson from the Sarawak Meteorological Department told The Borneo Post that the public can expect less rainfall during this period.
“Dry weather would be expected during this season due to less rain. However, there will be a certain period within this season where heavy rain and thunderstorms can be expected in Sarawak.
“This period is called ‘monsoon break’ and it had occurred earlier this month,” he said when contacted yesterday.
However, the spokesperson said wet weather is expected to occur within a few days, most likely in Sri Aman, Kapit and Miri, specifically Beluru, Telang Usan and Marudi.
Yesterday, the department issued a weather forecast that predicted thunderstorm and rain in several areas in Sarawak today.
