MIRI: Festive season is here again, so the Leos are excitedly on the move bringing cheer in bags of Christmas gifts to distribute to deserving recipients.
In this case, the deserving recipients are the special children of the Community-based Rehabilitation Centre (PDK) in Piasau Camp near here.
What a joyful surprise it was for them on the arrival of the philanthropic Leos, bringing festive goodies in lovey red bags and boxes. The Leos were from the Leo Clubs of Tun Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang (TDTHB) Kolej, SMK St Columba Miri, SM Pei Min and Curtin University of Technology, Sarawak Campus under the leadership and guidance of the Lions Club of Miri Host.
As usual, this is our festive tradition, showering the unfortunate with gifts enveloped with love and care, so they feel wanted by society.
Giving also gives joy and happiness to the givers, organising chairperson and coordinator Diana Yeoh said yesterday.
According to Yeoh, the sharing and caring project, themed Give Joy, Give Love, was in response to Parkson Shopping Mall managements appeal to the public to fulfill the wish list of the PDK children. In responding, it was sheer happiness for the Leos to see the joy light up on the faces of the children when given their presents chosen for them. The Leos believe in the act of giving and sharing to make the world a better place.
This year, 60 special children from PDK benefited from the sharing and caring project costing RM2,224.93. Meanwhile, the Lions of Miri Host president, Peter Ling, thanked the Parkson Shopping Mall management for giving the opportunity to the Leos to share and distribute their love and care to the children.
We hope they feel entertained and enjoy the happy moments, he said. Parkson Shopping Malls assistant store manager Doreen Bulan Apoi and the presidents of the respective Leo Clubs also joined in the visit.
