MIRI: The Christian community who make up the majority in Sarawak are called continue to safeguard the existing racial and religious harmony in the state.
Assistant Minister of Communications Datuk Lee Kim Shin said total commitment from the communities of various races is vital continue to make Sarawak as the model state for unity and racial harmony.
“Let us together continue to maintain and further enhance the racial unity as well as religious harmony among us,” he said to Borneo Post in delivering his Christmas message and wishes to the Christians here yesterday.
Lee who is also Senadin Assemblyman also reminded the people not to be easily influenced by the negative and unhealthy propaganda from outside Sarawak which would only create confusing and bring chaos to the people in the state.
Lee said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem had banned religious extremist from entering Sarawak in an effort to safeguard the peace and harmony in the state.
On the Christmas celebration today, he hoped the open house concept would continue to be another good venue for the people to refresh their relationship and foster closer the existing good unity.
For those returning to their hometown or villages for the festive season, he advised them to put their family safety as their top priority.
