Land and Survey Dept foils illegal sand dredging

KUCHING: The enforcement unit of Land and Survey Department crippled an illegal sand dredging activity in Kuala Tinjar in Miri on Wednesday at around 3.40pm.
According to a press statement released by the department, a tugboat, a barge, a crane and a pile of sand were seized as exhibits during the operation.
The illegal activity was detected following ground intelligence gathering by the enforcement unit.
The case is investigated under Section 32A of the State Land Code (Chapter 81).
In view of that, the department reminded members of the public wishing to conduct sand or soil dredging or transferring activities to seek advice from its nearest office to avoid enforcement action.
At the same time, the department called on the public to inform it of any illegal soil dredging activity conducted in their area by calling its headquarters at 082-444111 or 082-555999 (Talikhidmat) or www.talikhidmat.sarawak.gov.my.
