MIRI: A total of 40 families in Kuala Baram yesterday received new zinc roofing materials from the government.
Twelve of the families were from Kampung Masjid, while the others were from Kampung Muhibbah.
Assistant Minister of Communication Datuk Lee Kim Shin handed over the materials to the villagers.
We are giving building materials such as these zinc sheets to help eligible villagers to repair the roofs of their houses, which are damaged and run-down.
I believe this is better and more economical than calling for the contractor to carry out repair work, he said.
During the visit to Kampung Muhibbah, Lee also presented a donation of RM5,000 to the Nurul Iman Mosque for improvement works and repairs.
He said the money was part of the RM10,000 allocation promised, where the first half was presented earlier.
The allocation is for the mosque to repair its ceilings, toilets and other facilities, he said adding that the repairs would be carried out by the mosques committee.
