Is One Million Ringgit Too Much?

Now… when u read the title… you might think… 1 million ringgit… is not really much… but please see below quote I took it from one of our member’s blog and then tell me if it is too much or not…

Recently the Deputy Prime Minister announced that the reward for winning a medal in the Olympics has been increased to RM 1 million, RM 300,000 for silver and 100,000 for bronze.

To me… RM1 Million for a Gold Medalist… far far too much… why can’t use the money somewhere else…

heck yeah! that’s too much! who on earth will give that amount of reward to Olympic gold medalist!???

Perhaps its RM1 million given over 30 years? If that’s the case, its not a lot but that person sure would not have to work too hard for the rest of his life if he can handle his finances properly.

awwwhhhhh, tats where d “subsidy” money goes 2… stupid stupid stupid waste of money…
after giving so much, what happens 2 most of these atheletes after been rewared so much,… never hear frm them anymre…

what abt giving Nicol David sum, Karamjit Singh??? owh yeah, their names hav not got sumthin that d G wants…

better give the money to kampung people, they daily life is hard enough already…

Fully agree on tat… they need more than others…

1 mill?, how come they don’t use that fund to fix the road and relief the fuel and food price hike? Remember they say they have limited funds to allocate students scholarship? …thank you for stealing our tax money.

1 million can subsidies more oil le… and can donate to the poor who need the money more… aiyo… apa medal also 1 mil la… use plastic 1 enough ma… award dun have to be expensive to show appreciation and glory… its the heart man… gimme plastic 1 i also happy… coz i know im in the podium and every1 outside there knows it too…

Well, when I first read the news in the newspaper, the first thing in my mind, why they have to give so a huge reward to the gold medalist?? I am not opposing giving incentive to those that had win the olympic gold medal…But will they able to maintain the performance after they have receiving such huge amount of money? Just look at the previous Thomas Cup winner, after receiving the reward, their performance had dropped. Until now, we are still unable to win back that cup.

i don’t think the athele has a day job right ?

depends on the athlete wanna work or not only lor… some yes, some just sleep at home…

1 million is not much at all

1 million is too much. How can the government even come up with such ideas at a time like this? I don’t understand.

I dun see how winning an Olympic gold medal can help improve poverty in Malaysia. If this is America or Japan maybe 1 million ok. But as we are still an on going develop country 1 million can built massive infrastructure and improve children education especially in rural area. In miri 1 million can help fund builds lots of overhead crossover bridge for pedestrian/public to cross the road and save more life than being smack by high speed car.

Hey how about fund me 1 million to fund me my car design project.

totally agree, I cannot tahan seeing handicapped beggars around town.
