Ahmadinejad: Iran becoming only world power besides US

(New York, AP) September 20 2010 - Iran is becoming the only world power besides the United States, the Fars news agency on Monday quoted President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as saying in New York where he is attending the United Nations General Assembly.

‘Today everybody in the world has realized that only two powers have the main influence in the world and they are the US and Iran,’ Ahmadinejad told a group Iranians living in the US.

‘Therefore, the future of the world belongs to Iran,’ the Iranian president added.

According to Ahmadinejad, that was also the reason why most of the participants at the UN General Assembly were eagerly awaiting two speeches: ‘one by the US and one by the Iranian representatives.’

Iran and the US have had no diplomatic relations for more than three decades. The Iranian president challenged his US counterpart to a debate at the UN General Assembly, which the White House rejected as propaganda.

He said the US has been the undisputed leader of the global economy but failed in managing world affairs because of its lack of understanding, as demonstrated in Afghanistan and Iraq.

‘But contrary to the US, Iran with its policy of peace, friendship and justice has not only the potential to make the world management but is globally acknowledged as well,’ Ahmadinejad said.

He said the dispute over Iran’s nuclear programmes was just a pretext ‘as the US is quite aware and even certain that Iran has not and is not after any (nuclear) weapons.’

‘The main problem of the US is that they cannot limit the Iranian culture to a geography and imprison it (inside Iran), as this culture is like a breeze which spreads and cannot be controlled,’ he said.

Referring to the Western delegates who left the UN hall during his speech last year, Ahmadinejad said that they had ‘no tolerance for freedom of expression.’

‘For many years you (Western delegates) have had big tongues but little ears, now it is time to make it vice versa,’ he said.

I think nuclear radiation must have gone to his head.

"Your future belongs to Iran, or we will blow you to pieces…in the name of peace, friendship and justice.
