My name is Emily. I would like to share with you the story of a very special dog called Bobo.

Bobo came into our lives on 17th November 2011. We were informed by a dog-lover friend that there was a disease ridden dog sitting on the roadside next to the petrol station at Mosjaya, Miri. This particular dog were seen to stand up and wagged her tail to greet any passer bys in hope that she would be rescued and given a safe home. This dog was seen sitting at the same spot for days but no one went close to her due to the very bad and unattractive state she was in. Our friend whom already had more than ten dogs at home decided she could not help this poor dog but called us to tend to her instead. When we saw the dog, our hearts melted instantly as she was in such a bad state. We took her home to give her food and shelter. We decided then that we will try our best to help this poor animal back to good health and not have her being put down if there was a slight chance of recovery.

The next day, we asked for a vet to come to our home to see Bobo. She was diagnosed with various acute skin problems. Her body was covered with bloodied wounds as a result of rigorous scratching. Her eye lids were swollen to the extend that she could not open her eyes. She was crying all the time due to the constant itch and pain. She was also born with dental problems where her teeth were imbalance and she lost a front tooth. Four injections, a perscription of two types of medicine taken twice a day and strict instruction to have her bathed in medicated liquid everyday, Bobo was left in our care.Our kind hearted friend gave us a crate for the dog and contributed towards some of the medical expenses. We were deeply grateful for her kind gesture.
During the treatment period, Bobo constantly attempted to bite us in response to the pain she was in whenever we tried to give her the medicated bath or whenever we had to handle her. The vet said that the medicine he perscribed were the strongest and it is entirely down to our dedication in keeping up with the treatment and also Bobo’s will to survive that would send her on the road to recovery. There was a very big chance she may not make it. In order to begin with the treatment, we decided to shave off the remaining of her fur. We felt the immense pain that she had to endure especially during the shaving process as she did not stop crying and tried to bite us. There was no words to express the sorrow we felt for this poor dog. Aside from giving Bobo her medicine and the daily bath, we also had to soak her food to soften them so she could eat. She was really weak and could hardly move at all.

A week or so later, our hard work and dedication started to pay off. Bobo could finally get up and walk a little bit. Also she was still very weak, she showed good sign of recovery. We cried whenever we thought of the state she was in initially but this followed with a warm hearted smile after seeing her recovering steadily day by day.
Bobo’s progress was promising. Two months later, her fur began to grow back. Due to the disease and medicine, she was left with black patches on her healthy skin. Her eye lids were no longer swollen and she was then able to open her eyes. Unfortunately, we discovered another problem. She was diagnosed further with cataract on both eyes.
I went through many hours of research on internet for other ways to help Bobo improve her health and also to find a treatment for her Cataract. I found an eye drop to treat Cataract and began to religiously apply these drops into her eyes. Another few weeks on, one of her eyes had recovered. I persisted with the treatment.
Our love for Bobo increased day by day and aside from great recovery, she also learnt to trust us and responded to our affection. Soon enough, Bobo began to interact with us and also our four year old German Sheperd called Luna. Luna took Bobo under her wings and constantly looked after her and they soon made each other devoted companions. All the money and time spent nursing Bobo back to health have been well spent and we were never happier and proud to be able to say that we have saved another ‘Man’s best friend’. A life is a life at the end of the day and we are proud to say that we have saved one.

A year or so later, Bobo made further improvement. All our friends and family could not believe the transformation from the disease ridden dog to the cute, furry, active dog she is today. Since her ordeal, she has not fully recovered until now. She still needs special preparation with her food before she is able to eat. In order to prevent the recurrence of the skin condition, she requires daily medicine and a particular blend of nourishment to keep her healthy. She will also need medicated bath once a week.

8th March 2013 is a really sad day for us. Bobo was taken from our home in Taman Tunku, Jalan Sibu that afternoon and has not been seen since. We put up notices through the web and news media to search for Bobo hoping the good hearted people out there may find and return her to us as soon as possible. No words can describe the pain and sorrow we are in after losing her. Even, Luna the German Shepperd is not eating because she misses Bobo. We plead everyone reading this article to help spread the news and find this lovely dog for us.
We are really worried as Bobo is now not given the medicine and food that she needs ever since her dissapearance. She has been abandoned once and who knows where she is now, going through once more, the pain she experienced before.
To many others Bobo is not perfect. The long silky fur coat disguises ugly patchy skin underneath, the imbalance teeth and cataract eye. Bobo to us is perfect and beautiful. We love and miss her dearly. Please return her to us as soon as possible as she urgently needs the special attention in order for her to survive.

Breed : Cross between Jack Russell, Terrier and Shih Tzu
Color : White with brown patches
Measurement : Approx. 40 cm in length and 35 cm in height
Age : Approx. 4 years old
Characteristics : One lower middle tooth missing, slanted, imbalance teeth, Cataract of one eye, black patches on skin around the stomach and on the back. Please look through the fur to identify this.

Omg, was that ugly little puppy the now Bobo? You definitely deserve a big credit for giving her so much care and love until she has turned into such a lovely and adorable dog.
