Hi fellow talented photographers…i’m looking for photographers to help me out in two events…details stated below:
Christmas Charity Event in GCM
Date: 20th Dec 2008
Time: ermm…should be 7-10pm latest? but would be great if you could come earlier…to be confirmed
Details: the event is organised by Mercy Malaysia which aims to raise fund for less fortunate children and also rural kids. I will be helping out as a volunteer, in charge of looking for photographer, video camera man, pianist (christmas songs) and also I will be sponsoring stationary/ school utilities to the rural children.
Looking for: Two photographer to take photos of the event, volunteers and children/parents/families enjoying the event (heard there will be loads of performances). Also looking for a videocamera man to help out (no need prof prop as long as you know how to videocam). Would be best if you have your own equipment and props. Please send me a msg via Mc.net or facebook (search for marlene lim) if you’re interested and would be best if you could provide me a link to your personal URL where i can view your photo collection as well.
Fashion Gala Show in Boulevard or Imperial (TBC)
Date; 19Dec 2008
Time: should be around 7.30pm-9pm
Details: event TBC. organised in conjunction with pesta boulevard in dec. I’m organising it with few local fashion house and main organiser Boulevard. Showcasting summer fashion plus bridal/evening wear. gonna be a nice event to shoot, featuring miri’s top 10 models. I wanna invite MC.Net keen photographers to shoot the event freely near the stage with one condition, that i’m able to get the photos from you via your website or provide me some collections of the photos. either way i am happy. But if you’re interested to join in, you need to msg me as i need to prepare tags for you to wear so the security won’t chase you away when you shoot near the stage. and if the show is going ahead, please remind me to arrange a group photo with you guys and the models cos i owes forget haha. more info to be released soon thanks!

Marlene… we always stand damn near to shoot til we like part of the modelling too…hahhaha :mrgreen: other point of view is…we using Zoom lens for shooting so that invited guess may not get in view of disturbing. :mrgreen: moreover no worries, Photographer will all know their best move at shooting …only thing is tell the photographer what picture result & effect you looking after, that’s may help at better result even !
hey guys thanks! you are all invited pls pls pls send me a msg with ur name so i can prepare name tag for you (for the fashion show)…reason is if you don’t have the tag, most propably you wont be able to stand near the stage plus i might be making a booth in front of the stage whr photographers can stand on top n shoot right in front when the models pose at the end of the stage. haha of cos its good u guys got good zooming lens but if u hav tag u look like pro especially for the event…glamour ma…tats part of the plan haha chuckle if you don’t put in ur name, i wil probably use ur MC.net nick…which definitely gonna look cute on the tag hahahaha…would u guys prefer that? mayb wit a designation that u guys r from MC.net! haha

Well, I just want to chip in about having the access to stand near the stage. Sure, shooting with your zooms will be more than sufficient, especially with the 70-200mm f/2.8. But getting close will get you some interesting shots, especially with Bridal gowns and perhaps also evening wear.
Sounds like it would be a fun event. Good luck with your search Marlene! There are quite a few photogs here that would be quite qualified for this and have the equipment to handle such an event. Oh, I would suggest that you get the volunteers out there a few hours earlier when all the lighting equipment has been set up. This will give everyone a chance to play with their setting instead of trying to do so when the show starts.
Off topic: Anyone know if it is still possible to buy Polaroid film here in Miri?
