Hectic Christmas for Sarawak Bomba as it deals with two SARs and fire

MIRI: It was a hectic Christmas day for the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department.

Rescue personnel are involved in two separate search and rescue (SAR) missions in southern and central Sarawak while in Bintulu, a fire razed three luxury vehicles at a house.

Bomba units in remote Kabong district in southern Sarawak are desperately searching for an 11-year old girl, Nur Shahadah, who fell into the Sg Kabong.

She went missing on Sunday (Dec 23) and Tuesday (Dec 25), the search units are combing the river up to 3km from the Kabong jetty.

Sarawak Bomba in its latest updates said there are no signs of the girl as yet despite the frantic search.

In a separate search mission, Bomba Sibu units are searching for Indian-national Vilash, 19, who fell into the Rajang River about 9pm Monday (Dec 24) night.

He was working on a ship when he fell overboard, it was said.

So far, there are still no signs of the youth despite searchers combing the river and its banks.

And at noon Tuesday, a Mercedes, Lexus and Range Rover were destroyed when fire razed a house in Bintulu town.

The house is located at Taman Li Hua outside Bintulu old town.

There were no injuries in the fire.
