Health & Safety Officer (Based in Bintulu)

Job Description:
A Health & Safety Officer oversees the planning, creation and implementation of the occupational health and safety program of our oil palm plantation in order to provide a safe and healthy workplace for our employees and to prevent work-related injuries and/or accidents. A Health & Safety Officer must ensure that the Company complies with the law and regulations in regards to health and safety, and will work with the RSPO Officer to comply with the RSPO Principles and Criteria as well.

Responsibilities:
Inspect workplace to investigate accidents, cause of ill-health and formulate a plan of action to correct any non-compliant behavior or work condition
Monitor workplace to improve health and safety standards
Have constant dialogue with managers and employees to implement and maintain a safe working environment
Identify safety training needs, organize and coordinate safety training briefings and prepare training materials if necessary
Work with managers to create an emergency/contingency plan
Develop an OSH Plan
Develop a PPE program
Acts as a Liaison between the company and regulatory bodies, including NREB, DOE, etc.
Conduct internal audit and provide recommendations to minimize risks to company and employees
Coordinate and lead routine safety meetings
Keeping up with law and regulation
Other duties as assigned

Requirement:
Degree/Diploma and/or Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health Management or other related discipline
Certified Safety officer by JKKP / NIOSH a plus
2 to 5 years OSHA-related experience
Thorough knowledge of health and safety compliance
Knowledge of OHS system and industry best practices a plus
Exposure to oil palm plantation / RSPO a plus
Hazard Identification & Risk Assessments, Chemical Health Risk Assessment, Legal Compliance Assessments, and other OSHA or similar training a plus
Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point a must
Good Communication and interpersonal skills
Mature, able to work independently under minimal supervision
Flexible, extensive travelling between estates required
Salary: RM1,800 RM3,000, depending on experience

Thumb up and do agree with you. Just rejected 6K/month offer from 1 company in Bintulu yesterday,anyone interested just PM me,will let u know which company,but only registered SHO require.

u expect so much from a safety officer but your pay is low like hell in safety field, do you know this salary range is for a fresh graduated of diploma or a niosh cert holder? rearrange your salary range please.

Don’t mess with oil & gas related job. The black gold make good of the SHO.
