Has anyone update your iPhone, iPad, .... to iOS 5?

please do share your experiences.

i am going to do mine later tonight.
from google, what i know is need to update iTunes to 10.5 first, and download the iOS 5 ipsw file and do manual update which is faster. of course, the most important step before all that is to do a backup.

Mine stop downloading last night. Will try again later tonight.

Upgraded to IOS 5 an hour ago. Useful features found so far is iMessage which is quite similar to WhatsApp and camera access from locked screen. Am still exploring other features.

currently updating and is taking a loooooooooooong time.

Using 1Mbps streamyx?

With 4Mbps, it takes about 1 hour including iTune update, apps sync, IOS 5 update and restoring.

4mbps = 1hour
1mbps = 4hours…holy…i better manual download 1st.

Using already and already jb it… Nice…

its the update that is taking a loong time…

is Siri available on iPhone 4 or just for 4S and future release only?

u 4mbps 1 hour? for me its 2mbps 1hour well actually 2 hours cause for both iphone and ipad

SIRI is only available on 4s i think…i update mine, no SIRI inside…

unfortunately Siri is only available on Iphone 4S. it is not part of iOS5.

So far using iOS, the browser is much faster at generaating web page. Tab is also nice feature.

queries from a noob like {myself}

to those who have installed the iOS5, does the method above applies? any other method that others care to share?

care to share the jb link?

manual download? how do you do that?

Here is my experience:

  1. Download via iTunes, took nearly 4 hours (server lagging) and in the end I got error.
  2. Manual download the firmware but when I try to UPDATE, I get error code 3002.
  3. Lastly, I had to backup the iPad 2, and use RESTORE feature and load the firmware that I download earlier. That one worked well.

yes, it is working as mentioned above and i have successfully done it. one more thing, you need to do a restore and not an update.

    whatman, i also keep getting that 3002 when trying to update. it take me a few tries before i did realise it was wrong. what i have understand is that the download is a Restore version. hence, we cannot use the UPDATE button to do the update unless we do it within iTunes itself. the right way is to use the RESTORE button when doing manual update.

The right way should still be UPDATE but the problem lies with Apple’s server getting hammered by so many requests.

So using RESTORE method is the last resort at the expense of having your data erased.

The IOS5 file size is roughly 700Mb. Before clicking on the update, you need to free up some space on your pc cause it will create a backup of up to gigabyte size (took 10Gb of storage space temporarily from my pc) depending on what you have on your iphone/ipad. I didn’t have any trouble yesterday night.
