Grand celebration to mark Youth Day

PUTRAJAYA: This year’s National Youth Day will be celebrated on a grand scale with a four-fold programme beginning this Saturday.

Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Liow Tiong Lai said it would begin with a nationwide blood donation drive in 40 locations.

He added that Minister Datuk Azalina Othman would launch the campaign at Low Yat Plaza here on Saturday at 7.30pm.

The campaign is organised to foster a caring society and help replenish blood at the National Blood Bank, he said at Wisma KBS yesterday.

On May 4, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will launch one activity in Sandakan, followed by a Youth Festival on May 13-15 at Stadium Putra Bukit Jalil.

On May 15, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is to hand over awards to 13 youths who have excelled in various fields.
