MIRI: Gymkhana Club Miri (GCM) will hold a fundraising Christmas charity concert on Dec 10 to raise funds to purchase at least two units of Accuvein Vein Visualisation system to help kidney patients here.
According to its organising chairperson Jennie Soh Yan Khoon, the concert themed ‘Joy of Giving’ will be supported by the Miri Orchestra Choir, various dance teams and local singers.
“We would like to invite the public to join this event as the entrance is free but we will hold a collection for the kidney patients.
“Currently quite a number of patients need Accuvein Vein Visualisation system mainly to monitor their vein but unfortunately it is not available in Miri. If a patient has vein damage, or fistula failure, they need to travel to Kuching, Kota Kinabalu or Kuala Lumpur which is very costly for them,” she said at a press conference here last Thursday.
Stalls are expected to be set up at 4pm onwards to sell any items and part of the profit of at least 30% will be contributed for the event.
Private companies or individuals will be charged RM50 per booth and NGOs will be allocated free booth to sell their products.
