Family of 6 homeless after afternoon fire

MIRI: A family of six is left homeless after their house at Pujut 8 here was razed to the ground yesterday.

According to a source, two of the four children were at home during the 3pm incident. However, no injuries or casualties were reported.

“The fire is believed to have happened when head of the household went out to buy some groceries at a nearby shop.

“Shortly after, we were surprised when the children screamed for help , and told us that their house was on fire,” the source said.

Firefighters from Lopeng Fire Station rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call, and brought the fire under control. They completely extinguished the fire not long after.

The cause of the fire and loss incurred have yet to be determined.
