MIRI: A family of three known as ‘Geng Ting’ believed to be actively involved in break-in cases in this city was arrested by police last Sunday. Miri district deputy police chief, Supt Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said a couple aged 37 and 40 years and their 16-year-old son were arrested at two separate locations.
He said acting on information received, police detained the couple who was travelling in a car at Pujut Tanjung Batu at around 4.30am.
“Following the couple’s arrest, police went to their house in Piasau to arrest their son and confiscated various items believed to be stolen. “Among the items confiscated from the suspects were five wedding gowns, 11 golf clubs, 90 facial towels and several beauty products, he said at a press conference here on Sunday.
Stanley said the suspects and seized items were taken to Miri Central Police Station for further investigation under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
“All suspects, who are unemployed, are believed to have begun actively conducting their criminal activities since the beginning of this year. “With the arrest, we believe six break-in and theft cases in this district are solved,” he said.
Stanley also urged victims of break-in cases to go to Miri Central Police Station to identify their belongings.
