EC’s constituency delineation proposal ‘unfair’ — Rep

MIRI: The Election Commissions proposal for 11 new state seats has been labelled as unfair to the opposition, said Pujut assemblyman Fong Pau Teck yesterday.

Speaking to the press after handing over a donation to a family whose house at Kampung Haji Wahed collapsed during a landslide last Friday, Fong said the proposed new seats involved only rural areas.

He opined the new seats should be carved out of urban seats as the number of voters in rural seats was comparatively small.

There is no proposal for new urban seats, and this is clearly unfair.

Miri MP Dr Michael Teo, who was also present, said the proposal was truly an unfair game.

The proposed new seats are Batu Kitang (N.13), Stakan (N.17), Serembu (N.18), Triboh (N.23), Gedong (N.26), Kabong (N.40), Tellian (N.57), Selirik (N.63), Murum (N.66), Samalaju (N.70), and Long Lama (N.78).

At the function, Fong handed over RM3,000 to Herman Osman, 51, owner of the collapsed house.

It is understood the money came from a Good Samaritan, who requested Fong to give it to the victim.
