MIRI: Spread the Easter message of love and hope to those in distress and lessen their pain and despair, said Miri Catholic Diocese Bishop Richard Ng.In his Easter message delivered during the Easter Vigil mass at St Joseph Cathedral here, he said Easter symbolises hope of an eternal nature.
“The resurrection of Christ from the dead shows that there is hope beyond everything.
“There are so many people suffering from all sorts of afflictions. There are among us people living in poverty, suffering physical and emotional pain, who are lonely and lost in life and those who are victims of injustice and oppression.
“We need to reach out to them and show them kindness and offer them our friendship and support to overcome or lessen their burden in whatever way possible,” Ng told his parishioners.
Easter is an important event in the Catholic Church’s calendar with mass and gatherings held to celebrate the day Christ rose from the dead three days after his crucifixion on Good Friday. — By STEPHEN THEN
