Early Christmas celebration for kids and NGO at hotel

MIRI: Children from the Miri Methodist church and its orphanage were treated to an early Christmas celebration at Miri Pullman Hotel.

With them were 30 children from Tudan Methodist church and 21 members of Sarawak Association for the Deaf Northern Region (SADNR). They were the important guests at the hotel’s Christmas tree lighting ceremony, which was also attended by Miri mayor Adam Yii, hotel staff and loyal customers.

Yii commended the hotel for spreading the spirit of sharing and caring.

“Commercial entities such as hotels can be the ideal venues for merry-making and get-together during festive seasons, offering the opportunity to foster bonds with our loved ones, friends and clients,” said Yii.

The festive mood prevails at the hotel with staff putting up two Christmas trees made from recycled boxes at the lobby, and a 5m-tall manmade fir tree decked with fairy lights, ribbons and golden baubles.

The children received special gifts from hotel staff before they were treated to a sumptuous meal.

“We are very happy to be here. The food is delicious and I love the presents,” said 13-year-old Ubau Laman.

Guests were mesmerised by Christmas carols from Tenby International School Miri and St Columba’s Church Carollers.

Cluster general manager of Pullman Kuching and Pullman Miri Waterfront Ishak Ibrahim said they were delighted to have the guests joining them, as “Christmas is a about giving and taking care of each other for the greater good”. — ANSOVINA CHAI
