E-commerce site will to help forge closer links between merchants in East and West Malaysia

IDENTIFYING e-commerce products from East Malaysia that are in great demand among consumers in West Malaysia and vice versa is crucial for online shopping operators to stay competitive in the business.

Local e-commerce site PG Mall Sdn Bhd said the move would allow businesses to anticipate orders and reduce shipping time for the products to reach customers.

Its managing director Datuk Wira Louis Ng said merchants could stock up specific inventory and have it shipped out immediately once an order is made.

He said his company was glad to collaborate with Sarawak E-Commerce Association (Seca) in this aspect in bringing their businesses to the next level.

“We are honoured with Seca’s involvement and endorsement as we see this as a form of trust they have in us by agreeing to this partnership.

“It is a significant part of our strategy to open up the East Malaysia market from offline retail to online trading.

“This will enable PG Mall to act as a bridge to bring all members of Seca from Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri to the West Malaysia market,” he said during a signing ceremony at PG Mall headquarters in Bayan Lepas recently.

PG Mall Sdn Bhd is an online shopping company backed by Public Gold Marketing Sdn Bhd.

Seca chairman Chew Heo Lee said the initiative would be a great platform for the association’s 400 members.

“The startup would allow our members to learn ways to expand their own business and brand online through this collaboration.

“It is in line with Seca efforts which are supported by the state government that is actively involved in promoting the Sarawak merchants and products,” he said.

Also present were PG Mall Management information systems (MIS) director Charles Lim and director Datin Wira Yvonne Lim.

Seca representatives who were present were Kuching Seca president Jimmy Ling Yee Kung, Bintulu Seca president Kapitan Hong Yu Liing and Seca vice-secretary Ting Fei Fei.
