KUCHING: Participants of the upcoming ‘DUBS Aspirations Programme 2016’ will be exposed to various topics related to work and entrepreneurship including ‘Train the Trainers’ Programme.

The programme, now open for registration, will also provide guidance and coaching by high performance company in Sarawak Bumiputera Chamber of Entrepreneurs (DUBS), revealed DUBS Dewanita chairperson Juita Drap yesterday.

She said the programme was the first of its kind to be held as DUBS embark on entrepreneurship building for members.

This is specially for its registered members under building, construction and related industries, she said, adding that relevant training would be provided for members under the category of startup and small and medium companies.

“It is jointly organised by DUBS and Unit Peneraju Agenda Bumiputera (Teraju) to provide a platform for members to engage in systematic training, develop small companies in terms of growth, employment and turnover, and coach small companies via high performing companies in DUBS.

“We like to encourage others who are not members of DUBS to register with us and join this programme. Successful applications will have to commit themselves within a one year period from April this year,” she told a press conference yesterday.

The closing date for applications will be March 23 with the selection process lasting one to two weeks.

She said they hoped to have at least 30 successful participants by the end of the programme to be given certificates of completion and Train the Trainers certificates.

The criteria for application include applicants must be registered members of DUBS; owner of the company or board of directors; startup capital should not exceed RM500,000; company yearly turnover not more than RM2 million; willing to commit for a period of one year.

Among topics to be presented at the programme are training on safety and health, project and financial management, assessing risk and risk management, innovation and initiatives – green constructions and building, marketing, sales and branding.

Seminars to create awareness on the training programme were conducted in Kuching, Bintulu and Miri recently.

“We hope those in the construction, building and related industries will take this opportunity. It is also open to small companies and startup companies, so do not feel embarrassed,” she said.

Those who want to seek more information are welcome to call DUBS headquarters on 082-233 133 or 243 991.

Applications can be emailed to ‘dubssarawak @gmail.com’ or fax 082-423 134.
