Dr Nuing Jeluing New Senator From Sarawak To Replace Lihan

KUCHING, Nov 9 (Bernama) – Parti Pesaka Bumiputera (PBB) supreme council member Dr Nuing Jeluing has been elected as the new Senator to represent the people of Sarawak in the Dewan Negara to replace Datuk Lihan Jok whose term ends on Dec 7.

Nuing, from Miri, garnered 69 votes against his rival Nicholas Bawin Anggat, who only received 10 votes in the polls held at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly here today.

Nuing’s nomination was proposed by State Utilities Minister Datuk Seri Stephen Rundi Utom and seconded by Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Corporate Affairs) Abdullah Saidol while Bawin’s nomination was proposed by Sarawak PKR chairman Baru Bian and seconded by Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen.

Nuing, former chief medical officer of Shell Malaysia Berhad and has served in government hospitals since 1996, while Bawin is a Bumiputera customary land rights activist in Sarawak and former Deputy President of the Majlis Adat Istiadat Saraawak.
