MIRI: The people must not to let any negative influence jeopardise the existing racial unity and religious harmony in Sarawak.

Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin said stability and unity of the people would ensure Sarawak to continue its progress and development.

He said this after distributing Mandarin oranges to traders and shoppers at Lutong and Pujut Padang Kerbau markets here yesterday.

Adding on, Lee called upon the people regardless of racial or ethnic background to stay united and foster better understanding.

“We are fortunate that all of us in Miri have the opportunity to meet up to celebrate the festival in a peaceful environment. Our unique concept of celebrating each other’s festivals together in Malaysia, especially in Sarawak, has helped all the communities to have better understanding of one another and in the process, it has made us better people.”

Lee was accompanied by Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting.
