MIRI: Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) is all out with its domestic tourism campaign while staying vigilant in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Its chairman who is also Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau said STB was keen to make the local tourism industry alive with vibrant activities.

“Many people have turned to domestic tourism during the pandemic, and this augurs well for the local tourism industry.

“We will try our best to promote and market places of interest in Sarawak,” he said in his address during ‘Media Appreciation Night’ on Wednesday.

Dennis also gave the thumbs-up to the success of a domestic tourism programme of a STB-initiated ‘Sia Sitok Sarawak’.

He said the programme had given positive impacts to the local tourism industry, and said he was looking forward to the second edition next year.

He thus called all the local tourism stakeholders to continue working together with STB to further explore tourist attractions throughout the state.

He also said that STB needs continuous support from mainstream media in promoting their programmes, activities and places of interest in Sarawak.

Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Sebastian Ting, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Hii Chang Kee who is also STB’ deputy chairman, STB chief executive officer Sharzede Salleh Askor and president of Northern Sarawak Journalists Association (NSJA) Andy Jong were among those present at the dinner.
