MIRI: Five students and four lecturers from Curtin University, Sarawak campus’ (Curtin Sarawak) Foundation Studies Department under its Faculty of Business recently visited the Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS) centre here where they had the opportunity to meet 10 children affected by the disease.

Accompanying the students were Head of Department Wendy Law Li Ling and lecturers Anita Johari, Tan Sin Sieng and Siti Kasmah Mohd Kassim.

“The visit was aimed at motivating and showing support towards the affected children who are aged between 6 to 10 years by conducting educational games with them, as well as giving the students the opportunity to engage in community outreach,” said Curtin Sarawak in a statement yesterday.

The Foundation Studies Department plans to organise more such events in the future to engage with the wider community and give back to society.

Founded in November 2001, SCCS is a non-profit organisation dedicated to meeting the needs of families with children diagnosed with childhood cancer.
