Cops: Settle summonses or face arrest

KUALA LUMPUR: Settle your summonses or face arrest.

This is the message from Bukit Aman Senior Asst Comm (II) Nooryah Md Anvar to all traffic offenders who have been issued summonses and warrants of arrest.

Starting Monday, the police will launch Ops Warta VI to arrest and charge those who have warrants served on them.

SAC Nooryah said 60,701 warrants of arrest had been issued nationwide, with 11,873 in Selangor and 10,423 in Kuala Lumpur.

The police are aiming to get all offenders, so do not think you have a chance to escape if you have not paid up, she warned.

She said police would actively trace offenders and conduct arrests at their homes or workplace.

The two-month Ops Warta VI was planned to encourage traffic offenders to settle their summonses promptly, she told a press conference here yesterday.

Summonses can be paid at police stations, traffic police branches and other selected locations.
