Sarawak Assistant Tourism Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin said this also applied to community leaders such as pemanca, temenggong, longhouse and village chiefs.

“Do not just sit in your air-cond offices.

“You must get to the streets and residential estates to see for yourself what is happening on the ground.

“The government appointed you to serve the rakyat

“You should be able to address the issues and problems they face,” he said at a farewell party for outgoing Miri Resident Antonio Kahti Galis.

Lee, who is Senadin assemblyman, praised Kahti for being a hardworking civil servant.

“This is to create a feel-good atmosphere among the rakyat.

“Departments and agencies will hold programmes aimed at addressing communal issues as well as ensuring the rakyat understand the the government’s policy,” Lee said.

Kahti thanked Lee and all the other Barisan Nasional assemblymen in Miri for their cooperation during his tenure as Miri Resident.
