Abang Johari fields questions from reporters after launching the state-level Youth Day 2019 in Miri.
MIRI: Sarawak government will only give special assistance of RM500 to federal civil servants who are working in Sarawak and not elsewhere, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has pointed out.
Speaking to reporters after launching the state-level Youth Day 2019 here yesterday, Abang Johari said the Sarawak government was working together with the Federal Secretary in coming up with a system to disburse the special assistance, set to be distributed in June next year.
“This special assistance will only be given to civil servants who are working in Sarawak, although there are many Sarawakians who are working outside Sarawak,” he added.
Meanwhile, when asked what were his hopes and plans for the youths in the near future, Abang Johari said youths must have the vision to become leaders and know how to achieve it.
“We want to make Sarawak the most developed and high-income state by 2030. Therefore, all of our movements and preparations must be aimed at reaching that vision by 2030,” he stressed.
He pointed out that youths had immense potential and the state had seen youths succeed in many fields, including sports and economy.
“As such, if we look at a company that has developed now – Serba Dinamik – it was sparked by a youth’s vision; now the company has transformed its economic position.
“And when it comes to digital economy, our youths are tech-savvy; they know that the use of technology is important. I believe with such abundant resources in Sarawak, we would be able to transform Sarawak into the most developed state by 2030,” he added.
