I want make sharing connectivity of my celcom broadband with the other computer … anyone know how ICS works ? or how to share the internet connection with other computer cos I have 2 laptop . I want share the network conection . how to do it?
u might need this
how much this device costs?
There’s another option. By making one of your laptop as the internet server and activate internet connection sharing features in the server laptop. And then, connect two of your laptop using UTP-CAT 5 cross cable via the RJ-45 ethernet port. I’d suggest manual configuration of IP addresses and subnet mask for the two laptop for instance communication. This option is applicable to you if you do not want to invest to much on this network (since it might be only temporary). You could also choose to link the two laptop together via a network switch/hub(which could be obsoleted) using CAT 5 normal cable. Otherwise, if you have an wireless router around, then you can connect the two wirelessly then.
I have wireless router … I am blur when want to setting up the IP address … what IP address i need to use ? how to do it… I already enable the sharing internet connection … but still cannot connect to internet.
do anyone know what is ICS?
ICS = Internet Connection Setting
what IP address I should use ? thanks for helping me.
If you’re connecting the two laptop together using your wifi router, then it should has been assigned to you automatically unless the DHCP function was turned off in your router setting. By the way, which version of window you’re running on your laptop? Vista or XP ?
vista… I cant set the IP automatically…
I can connect locally only but cannot connect to internet the other computer . I mean the second computer that i connect with the host computer.
You dont need to set the ip automatically. Like I mentioned before, if you have your DHCP setting turned on in your router, it will assign an ip address to your laptop automatically.
This is what I found on google, hope it will help.
Enabling ICS
To enable ICS, on your host computer:
Open Network Connections by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, clicking Network and Sharing Center, and then clicking Manage network connections.
2.
Right-click the connection that you want to share, and then click Properties. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
3.
Click the Sharing tab, and then select the Allow other network users to connect through this computers Internet connection check box.
NoteThe Sharing tab will not be available if you have only one network connection.
4.
If desired, you can also select the Allow other network users to control or disable the shared Internet connection check box.
5.
Optionally, to allow other network users to use services running on your network, click Settings and select the services you want to allow.
When you enable ICS, your local area network (LAN) connection gets a new static IP address and configuration, so you’ll need to reestablish any TCP/IP connections between your host computer and the other network computers.
To test your network and Internet connection, see if you can share files between computers and make sure each computer can reach a website.

Configure TCP/IP
To use ICS, make sure the local area network (LAN) connection on each network computer is configured to get an IP address automatically. To do this:
Open Network Connections by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, clicking Network and Sharing Center, and then clicking Manage network connections.
2.
Right-click the LAN connection, and then click Properties. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
3.
Click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) or Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6), and then click Properties.
4.
Click Obtain an IP address automatically or Obtain an IPv6 address automatically.
The Internet options on your network computers should also be configured for ICS. For more information, see Change Internet settings for ICS (Internet Connection Sharing).
Do not use ICS on a network with domain controllers, DNS servers, gateways, or DHCP servers. And don’t use ICS on systems configured for static IP addresses.

Use manual IP setting. Make sure both PC’s are connected to the same subnet. Then, change the default gateway to the PC which is connected to the internet. Make sure the PC connected to the internet has ICS enabled and shared.
Example:
PC-A: No internet connection.
PC-B: Has the celcom BB.
- Set PC-B’s address to 192.168.1.101
- Set PC-A’s address to 192.168.1.100
- Change PC-A’s default gateway to 192.168.1.101.
- On PC-B, make sure celcom BB dialer is shared. When you’re dialing to Celcom BB, you should see a connection appeared in your network connection. Right click it and share.
- You’re done!
There are times when the internet don’t work on PC-A. That’s when you got to set the DNS for PC-A. For this case, I was using streamyx’s DNS (office setting, didnt bother to change), and it works flawlessly.
I’ve tried this in an office network and it works. But then we’re on XP, not Vista. You could try it.
ok … thanks every one I will try and tell u all its works or not…
