Calligraphy contest for a ‘Poem in 28 words’ for students

MIRI: Secondary school students here are invited to take part in the National Secondary School Calligraphy Competition organised by the Miri Chinese Calligraphy and Cultural Society.

According to a spokesperson for the event, the competition which is organised for the first time is open to secondary school students throughout the country and it has two categories.

The first category is open to Form 1 to Form 3 students while the second category is open to fifth formers.

He added that the theme of the competition is ‘Poem’ where entrants are required to write a poem in Chinese calligraphy using not more than 28 words.

Closing date for submission of entries is April 15 and winners will receive prizes in the form of cash and certificates.

Completed works – together with participant’s name, home address, school address, Mykad number, phone number and a photocopy of student card — are to be mailed to Ting Nai Ho at Lot 5541 Prima Villa, 98100 Miri,

The organiser will hold a dinner at Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club on May 1 to announce the winners of the competition. Prizes will be mailed directly to the winners.
