Bill Kayong murder: New suspect arrested, questioned

Bill Kayong was shot and killed on the morning of June 21, 2016.

KUCHING: A seventh suspect in the ongoing investigation into Bill Kayong’s murder was arrested at a car wash in Miri yesterday evening (July 2).

According to a press statement from state CID chief SAC Dev Kumar, the 27-year old male was picked up for questioning after the Task Force found reasons to believe that the suspect was important to the investigation.

He was produced in the Miri Magistrate Court this afternoon for remand but the application was rejected by the court, leaving the Task Force no choice but to release the suspect.

The five men and one woman who were arrested earlier are still being questioned.

“We are unable to divulge further details of the investigation at this juncture,” added Dev.

PKR Miri branch secretary and social activist Bill, 43, was shot and killed at a traffic light intersection in broad daylight at the Kuala Baram bypass on June 21.
