(luke08) #41

they don’t want mirians to use bicycle… jatuh maruah sebagai resort city…prefer people to drive in big big cars…hehehe

(ken) #42

luke08, i salute you for the action that you have done. bicycle lane? its a good idea tho.

(luke08) #43

Thanks ken… let’s hope this dream will become a reality for Miri city…when we were young we used to cycle around town… for me, it was Lutong town…do you see kids riding bicycle nowadays? seldom… except when they cycle to schools…

(allokitty) #44

You guys ride bikes to work?

I’ve been riding for months now to the office. All my clothings and stuff at the office easy to get change. Wah! save money. Now my car been sitting with spider web. Ride to office from Tanjung lobang beach to Lutong in 20 minutes. I dun use road. Use shortcuts. Jumping down staircase, speeding down the narrow lanes, ride inside the buildings, along longkang, between trees and anywhere where tires can roll, super fun! Roads are optional. My money save enough to get me a PS3. You can see me around 6.30am to 5.00pm zig zag on pedestrian trails.

Here the picture in the office.

off road some more… can or not…?

(luke08) #46

Read in the Borneo Post today that the president of Indonesia cycled to work… this is really leadership by example… how about our leaders…at local level, state level and national level… still want to drive in big cars… the fuel paid for their luxury is your money and mine…taxes remember?

Hey guys Mdm Yee from City council called me up so she refered Mr. Tay who is the PR for the council, gonna forward and talk to him(maybe) on this matter. will get back to you guys. What happen to everybodies enthusiasm.
Lets fight this battle together and make MIRI a better place to live in, my friend told me they have a bicycle lane already in Kuching. What’s there to wait for.

On a more serious note back to the original thread topic, if Miri one day really have a full length bicycle lane, I would truly consider using it as modes of transport. That means not having to ride out into the main road and risk ourselves of being bang by cars. It would be beneficial for health and wallet! Best of both world! Now I have to first get rid of this fat/lard on my tummy first before thinking of squeezing myself into those tight bicycle rider’s fancy suits.

Just to update everyone, this was from Mr.Tay Boon Pang (PR of the council)

Dear Sir,
We have received your proposal in a form of 2 sets of documents.
I will pass your proposal to our Engineering Department for necessary
perusal.
On proposal of such nature, we need a primary study by the technical
personnel. If the proposal is found to be viable, it will then be
forwarded to the relevant committee for discussion after incorporating
various factors of implementation like, feasibility, availability of
fund, priority of implementation as compared to other equally
essential services/projects, spend of implementation, the locations,
feeback from other walks of life and etc.
Apart from this, should the scheme value is more than certain amount,
we have to refer to our Ministry for considaration for allocation of
fund.
We hope that you can bear with us on this, as such kind of proposal
will really take time to go through, not to mention to be
materialised. Nevertheless, we welcome your suggestion and certainly
we will have a good thought over it.
Thank you for your anticipation and best regards from
Public Relations Section, MCC.
