‘Be more vocal for development of Sarawak’

MIRI: The State Government should be more vocal in voicing its needs for more development from the Federal Government.

Sibuti MP Ahmad Lai Bujang, when interviewed recently, said Sarawak – a land blessed with a lot of natural resources – should be given priority in development as she contributed to the countrys economic growth.

We have all the resources here. We have timber, rubber, oil palm, oil and gas. All these natural resources are with us, Ahmad Lai said.

He said as MP, he had to keep asking from the federal government to allocate more money for the state to enable it to be as developed like other states in the country.

Ahmad Lai pointed out that Sarawak, by right, cannot be regarded as one of the states as it was already a nation when it formed Malaysia together with Sabah and Federation of Malaya.

He went on to say that resource-rich Sarawak cannot be compared with the peninsula, where only certain states have resources while others have nothing.

Thats the reason Sarawak needs to be looked after and be developed by year 2020, he added.
