MIRI: The 12-day Balloon-holic Carnival raised RM10,644 for the Association of Parents of Children with Special Needs (Pibakis) Community-based Rehabilitation Centre (PDK) of Piasau.
Held from May 22 to June 2, the carnival was run by Permaisuri Imperial City Mall and supported by De Jackie Inspiration.
Boulevard function and marketing manager Eric Jong credited the public for the success of the carnival.
Though it was only a small gesture, we do hope it could make a difference to the children of Pibakis PDK Piasau, he said when handing over the donation to Pibakis PDK Piasau representative Tham Yun Chew.
Tham said Pibakis new centre, which is under construction, was still short of RM1.93 million.
Costing RM5 million in total, the centre on state land is at Lot 3354 Block 3, adjacent to SMK Lutong.
At the moment, the construction is 83 per cent complete. Hence we hope to get more donations to assist us with the project, he said.
