MIRI: Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Sarawak will go on a membership drive once its registration is approved by the Registrar of Societies (ROS).

According to its Sarawak protem chairman Ridzuan Zaidi, the party is looking to establish itself in time for the coming state election.

“At the moment, the national political party only has a protem committee in Sarawak as Amanah was only approved by the ROS at the national level,” he said.

He added that at the moment the Sarawak branch has about 150 members since the party was formed last September.

Ask if they will be ready to field candidates in the upcoming state election, Ridzuan said that would depend on Pakatan Harapan as the party is a member of Pakatan Harapan which comprises Democratic Action Party (DAP), Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Amanah.

“Once we received ROS approval for our state branch we will sit together with members of

Pakatan Harapan to discuss this matter,” he said adding that the party is all geared up to face the election.

He was met at a public talk session organised by Pakatan Harapan at Boulevard Commercial Centre on Wednesday night.

Also present was Amanah President Mohamad Sabu, who was also one of the five speakers at the function along with Ridzuan.

Other speakers were Piasau Assemblyman Alan Ling, Amanah Miri chairman Yeo Kian Leong and PKR Miri Youth Chief Teo Jia Jun.
