‘Adopt ‘green’ quality management system’

MIRI: Deputy Minister of Finance Datuk Ahmad Maslan has called on companies engaging in heavy or medium industries to practise green quality management system.

He said the green concept is a new thing in the nation that has a huge potential to grow, thus giving companies practising it a competitive edge.

He was speaking at the launch of Green Campaign held by Freelander Tech International Sdn Bhd (FTISB) at Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club here on Tuesday night.

According to him, FTISB is the first company to be given the Green Tag certificate in Malaysia for practising green management concept – EcoQuip Vapour Abrasive Blast System Technology endorsed by Malaysia Green Technology Corporation in April 2014l

Thus, FTISB should be an example for other companies in the oil and gas industry to emulate, he said.

Commenting on the Green Campaign, Ahmad said FTISB focuses on blasting and painting work in the oil and gas industry as well as petro-chemical uses without causing much impact to the environment.

Ahmad launched the FTISB headquarters at Piasau Utara yesterday morning.

The ceremony was attended by FTISB CEO cum managing director Masation Maran and mayor Lawrence Lai.

According to Masation, the concept applied by FTISB is the latest in the market yet to be adopted by any other oil and gas company in the country.

All the processes done by the company particularly on blasting and painting (oil and gas industry) are environment-friendly through its green quality management system.

Through the green campaign, FTISB will cooperate with related agencies and companies including Department of Environment (DOE), Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Petronas, Shell, Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water, GreenTech Malaysia as well as Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara (IKBN).

FTISB was fully incorporated on Sept 17, 2013.

It is wholly owned and operated by Bumiputeras.

It is registered with Petronas, Ministry of Finance and Construction Industries Development Board (CIDB).

It is also the exclusive agent in Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore and South East Asia regions for the EcoQuip range of Vapor Abrasive Blasting for coating removal and surface preparation technology in oil and gas industry and petro-chemical plants.
