Abandoned ‘angel’ now a huge draw at hospital

MIRI: She was dumped at the side of a highway wrapped in only a piece of newspaper.

Scorched by the sun and badly bitten by red ants all over her body, she could have easily been attacked by dogs.

That was six days ago.

Today, the child abandoned by her mother is the darling of the Miri Hospital and people are lining up to adopt her.

The baby was found by a couple at about 7am on the first day of Hari Raya at a bus stop at KM20 of the old Miri-Bintulu highway.

The couple, in their 30s, were driving past after visiting some relatives near the area when they heard cries coming from the bus stop.

They got down from their car and found the baby placed on top of a piece of newspaper outside the bus-stop shelter just next to the highway. She was covered in red ants.

The couple took the baby to the hospital and lodged a police report.

Since then, nearly a dozen people have expressed interest in adopting her as the baby is said to have a beautiful smile.

Even the couple who found her want to adopt her, a police source said.

The baby will be handed over to the State Welfare Department once our investigation is completed.

Anybody who wants to adopt her will have to go through the welfare department, the source added.

Miri Hospital director Dr Uma Devi said the little angel was in good shape but added there were procedures to be followed if people wanted to adopt the baby.

wuuu…driving in a car can actually hear baby cries when driving past the bus stop? how slow did they drive? perhaps without aircond ahh?

but a noble act by sending the infant to the hospital, still. 8)

Another reason why sexual education is needed in schools.

Tell this to the edu dept. The educators are not serious enough. They’re too…“shy”? and students are always giggling. Come on laH. Sex edu is not implemented in schools. Even if it is, I don’t think it will work if the educators do not know how to comprehend students who are “naughty”.
