9th edition of Miri Trade Fair starts today

MIRI: See Hua Marketing Sdn Bhd (SHM) in collaboration with Bintang Megamall will hold the ninth edition of a four-day Miri Trade Fair (Mitraf) from today (March 3).

The fair to be held at the old and new wings of the mall will have a total of 75 booths.

Products will range from electronic and electrical items, furniture and bedding, kitchen and sanitary ware, tools and equipment, home improvement, handy smart tools, property development, general trading, repairs and maintenance, food and beverages, financial planning institutions, information technology, Taiwan higher education and consultancies, bridal services, consumer goods, beauty and slimming products, as well as cakes and pastries.

Usahawan Mikro Kebajikan (UMK) will showcase 20 vendors, who will promote traditional food and pastries, Bario rice as well as reflexology massage services and handicraft made by the disabled.

Today (March 3), there will be a singing show by Pertubuhan Hiburan Sistem Baru Miri followed by a talk on Socso matters by Zurich Chong at 8pm.

A talk on smart phone functions for senior citizens is on from 3pm to 6pm tomorrow, followed by the grand opening of Mitraf 9 by Mayor Lawrence Lai and Miri Housing Group executive chairman Datuk Prof Lau Siu Wai at 7pm.

After the opening, there will be talks on SME financial resources by Neil Foo. He is CEO of the Secretariat for Advancement Malaysian Entrepreneurs (SAME), a unit under the Prime Minister’s Department, followed by ‘Belt and Road’ Programme by Asean Strategic Information Centre (BASIC) presented by vice-president of Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce Dato’ Joseph Lim Heng Ee.

On Saturday there will be a talent show by ‘Xiao Dou Ya’ children group at 2.30pm and another talk on spinal matters at 7.30pm.

The highlight of the day will be album promotion of Astro Star Quest 2014 champion Uriah and a promotional show by Astro classic golden melody 2015 runner-up Lyee Cheok at 8.30pm.

There will be a blood donation by the Youth wing of the Federation of Miri Division of Chinese Associations and Miri Kaying Association from 10am Sunday, followed by a fun game show of parent-child treasure hunt.

The Mr 360 Miri 2016 bodybuilding competition by Miri Division Bodybuilding Association will be held from 12.30 noon. The Rachel Liong song singing competition will be another attraction held at 6pm and finally the grand lucky draw at 8.30pm.

Those who wish to pursue their studies in Taiwan can also find out more details at the five participating Taiwanese university booths.

In addition, GSC cinemas will also set aside 110 gifts per day for the newspaper subscribers of See Hua Group. The three-day redemption gifts including free movie tickets, mini torch lights, photo frame with digital clock will begin today (March 3).

KJ Enterprise will also give out 150 bottles/tins of Big power or Windz drinks per day during the fair. These redemptions or giveaways are based on ‘first-come-first-served, while stocks last’ basis.

Children can come and meet their favourite cartoon mascots like Minion, Pirate, Baybox, Scooby Doo, Penguin Madagascar, Green Alien, Sully, Woody, Sponge Bob, Robotor, Transformer Rider and Talat Minder, Optimus, Bumblebee on Saturday at 2 pm and 6.30pm respectively. For Star Wars fans meet up with Kylon Ren and Stromp Troppers.

The main sponsors of the four-day trade fair are United Fusion Sdn Bhd and Favourite Reno and Deco Sdn Bhd.

Those who spend a minimum of RM500 booking fee or RM100 within the same day at participating booths, even with multiple receipts, can register at the See Hua service counter to enter the lucky draw.

Prizes for the grand draw include a Kingfisher cooker hood, a LG 40-inch LED TV, a LG freezer, a Faber Oven, 6 cash prizes worth RM100 each.

For every purchase of RM30 and above in a single receipt from participating vendors entitles customers to purchase a bag of 5-kg butterfly rice at RM19.90, a 1-kg Milo at RM9.90 or one 10s cutie compact roll at RM5.90.

The purchase with purchase promotion will be available at the See Hua Marketing Sdn Bhd service counter.

Mitraf 9, which is endorsed by Miri City Council, operates from 10am to 10 pm and admission is free.
