Yii (fifth right) and MCC councillors pose at the unveiling of prizes.
MIRI: Assessment rate payers who settle their 2019 bill in its entirety on or before May 31 will be in the running for one of 69 prizes offered by Miri City Council (MCC) via a lucky draw.
Mayor Adam Yii, who unveiled the prizes yesterday, said the initiative is part of the council’s effort to encourage rate payers to settle their assessment fees early.
“We are looking forward to seeing more rate payers settle this year’s assessment bill and qualify to be in the running for these prizes,” he said.
The prizes comprise a motorcycle (grand prize), five foldable bicycles, one laptop, two tablets, three smartphones, three smart watches, two air-conditioner units, and home electrical appliances.
To be eligible for the draw, rate payers would need to settle their assessment bill for the entire 2019 on or before May 31, and also have no outstanding assessment fees.
Property owners who enjoy 100 per cent waiver on their assessment rate are not eligible for the lucky draw.
The draw will be done digitally by MCC based on the property record in its system.
