BINTULU: Thirty-two local community leaders from Bintulu division successfully completed a two-day-one-night workshop titled ‘Team building – Awareness simulation on Social Laws 2018’ yesterday.
The closing ceremony held at a hotel here was officiated by Sarawak Welfare Department (JKM) acting director Umadi Polot.
Among those present were JKM Sarawak Enforcement branch chief Rohana Isnawi, senior police officer from Sarawak police contingent ASP Jawai Francis and JKM Bintulu officer Taddy
Rohana said the programme is under the strategic plan of JKM which has been implemented starting this year until 2020.
“Within three years, all divisions in Sarawak will be covered and the target group is the local community leaders,” she said.
Among the objectives of the programme are to instil greater understanding among the participants on the social laws to foster closer ties between JKM, police and local community leaders as strategic partners.
“This event has been filled with lots of informative and attractive sessions, which started with the ice-breaking session followed by a series of talks and ended with the role play simulation,” Rohana said.
According to her, similar programmes will be held in Kuching next week followed by Mukah. In September, it will be conducted in Kapit and Sarikei before the final destination in Miri in early October.
Meanwhile, she also hoped JKM Bintulu will continue striving forward in giving excellent services to needy people.
Pemanca Limin Anai who represented the participants congratulated JKM Sarawak for hosting the programme.
He said from the programme, the participants had learned new things which were directly connected to their role as community leaders.
“We will share the information we have with other longhouse chiefs and other grassroots leaders in our areas,” said Limin.
