3-day Sarawak National Cooperative Day ends with a bang

A celebration marking the Sarawak State Level National Co-operative Day recently drew to a close, culminating with a concert featuring popular artists such as Vince, VE, OAG member Radhi and new comer Irma.
The colourful event was held at the Miri City Fan Grand Amphitheatre.
Themed ‘Cooperative the Economic Driving Force,’ the three-day Carnival Smart COOP was officially launched by Sarawak Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Communication Assistant Minister Lee Kim Shin, who represented Sarawak Chief Minister Pehin Sri Haji Abd Taib Mahmud.
Also present were Department of Cooperative Development of Malaysia (JPK) Director General Dato Zainuddin Hj Abd Rahman, Sarawak JPK Director Haji Musa Nasri and other senior officials.
In a text of speech read by the chief guest, the chief minister thanked all parties involved in the carnival, which was celebrated in recognition of the cooperative movement achievement in Malaysia.
The chief minister also thanked Brunei Darussalam for participating in the carnival.
More than 30 vendors took part in the three-day event showcasing their products and services in automobiles, computers, agricultural products, transportation services, handicraft and others.
Other events tied up to the carnival were business matching seminars, quizzes, drawing competitions, futsal, karaoke contests and a get-together with orphans.
Brunei occupied two booths during the event participated by Koperasi Tasamul Berhad and Alai Nadi Enterprise.
On short notice, six cooperative bodies and entrepreneurs from the Sultanate were able to participate in the event organised by the Sarawak Cooperative Development Department.
