2012 world's top 20 most high-tech nations: Israel at no.1

What make Japan and South Korea stand out from the rest of Asia? How can the relatively smaller European nations like Switzerland, Sweden or Finland compete so well with their larger counterparts in France, the U.K. and Italy? What enable Singapore, a tiny island, to become a dominant force in Southeast Asia? Why is Israel able to thrive in face of hostilities from nearly one-fourth of the world?

It all boiled down to the intellectual capabilities of their people, and the determination to pursue a higher level of science and technologies.

So how can you raise the ingenuity of your people, power up the industrial and economic strength of your nation, and move ahead to beat the more-than-200-countries-and-territories in competition? Allocate more resources to research and development (R&D), build up a class of intelligentsia, and inspire a culture of new knowledge creation into the society.

Across the globe, in 2012, which nations dedicate most of their GDP expenditures onto R&D (GERD), prioritizing most on the scientific and technological development in the country?

wtf is Malaysia doing …

Filipinos ask the same question about their country after seeing the rank

I thought the title is misleading, the statistics do not show that israel is leading in high tech, it shows that israel is spending most on research percentage wise to the money they have to spend.

Then you should suggest a title, can’t be me doing all the time right?

i do think malaysia do have the people and skills, just that its a sad fact that all are driven by politician… politician involves too much diverting the real intention towards politics agenda like what happening to some of our sports. so no matter how much malaysia spending towards it at the moment wont mean much in term of output

According to these 2 articles:

http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/edwes … ne-for-us/
http://www.thecuttingedgenews.com/index … icle=77102

Israel has the highest scientists, engineers, technicians and economists per capita among all nations - thanks to its high R&D spending. Most of them stay in the country. This put its high tech intensity as the top in the world.

Malaysia’s full brain drain stats is not known, but this is a statistics in 2000:

http://starstorage.blob.core.windows.net/archives/2010/5/16/nation/n_24table3.jpg

There are 102,000 university-graduated Malaysians working overseas (developed nations) in 2000, the figure is estimated to be 175,000 at the moment. If you put back the 175,000 highly-educated people into the country, they can produce a lot of things.

can we have the most wasteful country research? betting that Malaysia will come out top 10

Mr Mevotex…are u jewish?israeli?

Said many times before, no.

Perhaps I can post the latest Legatum Prosperity Index, and you might think I’m Scandinavian.

Title should be “Israel spends most on high tech per capita”. because this article is about who spends most per capita, not who is the most advanced.

Apart from title checker, you may also apply as grammar, vocabulary and verbs teacher correcting everyone in the forum. Many will appreciate it 8)

You must also give marks on every forum, reminding posters of their English usage skills.

I think mevotex is incandescent now. I don’t think Mevotex is pro Israeli but it is true that Israel has a very high concentration of intellects ,in addition to Jewish intellects in Western countries.

Yup… well at least mevotex’s post are worth reading… something that most of us would not look for in the net…

Every successful nations are worth looking into. Likewise, every failing states should be studied too so not to repeat the same mistakes. If you shun that, you will never improve.

For Israel, I’m quite attracted to its achievements; a desert country who turns itself into an agricultural powerhouse and fruit exporter; a small country who builds up the world’s third most powerful airforce; a country who has 8 universities and 6 of them are ranked in the world’s top 500; a country of only 8 million, but was ranked 2nd most advanced in space sciences by Thomson Reuters agency, only after NASA in the U.S.

Most importantly, it is a country who invented the cellular phone components (later evolved into the mobile phone today), antivirus software and firewall, USB flash drive, laser keyboard, solar water heating, instant messaging (later evolved into MSN and Yahoo messaging), drip irrigation, SMS and voicemail systems, Intel wireless computer chips, miniature camera that became our phone camera today, VOIP technologies (that evolved into today’s Skype) and multiple other technologies, but due to political boycott they must bring it to or sell to other nations, which is why not many people know about the origin and the technological prowess of the country.

You have a rising Asian technological giant Samsung, the company has 18 major R&D centres, 16 in South Korea, and recently the company admitted its only 2 major non-Korean offshore R&D centres… are in Israel. (http://research.scottrade.com/qnr/Publi … 256h9639-1)

So naturally when some called for its destruction and its replacement by a less productive entity, progressive-minded people will think oh-no it would be a setback for the world’s agriculture, computer sciences, electronics, genetics, medicine, optics, solar energy, aerospace engineering, biomedical engineering, hydraulic engineering and more… if only they knew a lot of advancement to these technologies are a result of inputs from which country’s intellectuals.

But to those who don’t understand they would say ‘you hate us’, ‘you anti-us’, ‘you zionist’, ‘you jewish’, and so-on.

i dont have time to check all mentioned invention… but looking at the list i am attracted to the antivirus… my search on antivirus invention doesnt lead to israel at all… maybe you know something that we dont know on this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antivirus_software#History)

yeah… isreal have such ‘comfort’ to develop since the cost to fight their enemies passed to USA who is in deep shi*to with increasing debt now… arent they just genius?
