MIRI: A Mobile Outreach Programme (MOP) will be held at Long Bedian on this coming Saturday, 10 December.
The event is scheduled to be graced by Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg at 2.00pm.
Telang Usan Assemblyman Dennis Ngau said, 11 government agencies will open their booths at the programme. These include Telang Usan District Office, Information Department, Malaysian Armed Forces, Welfare Department, Fire and Rescue Department, Malaysian Palm Oil Board, Agriculture Department and I-system College.
The MOP event aims to provide direct services to rural people as well as to uplift government reach out services, he added.
Meanwhile, Dennis urged the local community to take advantage of the programme for their own benefits.
“The government is going to the rural areas to meet the community and providing their services so that the community members need not come down to the city.
“They can save their time and budget as the respective departments open their booths and provide direct services to the community,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dennis pointed out that on 9 and 10 December there will be the 3rd edition of Sarawak Highland Folks Music and Dance Festival scheduled to be held from 7.00pm till 11.00pm at Long Bedian.
Dennis, who is the main committee organising chairman, said more than 2,000 people are expected to be at the event.
“14 ethnic groups will showcase their cultural dances at the event. We have received participations from Kayan, Kenyah, Penan, Kelabit, Lakiput, chinese, Malay, Lun Bawang, Bidayuh and Iban ethnic groups,” he disclosed.
