Your 8600GT is silent one, those type runs hotter. And plus, GTX275 is newer cards, usually newer cards are cooler, lower power consumption and faster.

Should buy graphic card with a cooler fan. Though graphic card silent one is design to withstand the temperature, I still won't want to risk my com. So why choose graphic card without a cooler fan???? Just wanna ask.

it seems like your casing has pretty horrible airflow, so yes, I would recommend a new case. Try the evga precision program I mentioned here:

http://downloads.guru3d.com/EVGA-Precis ... -2251.html

and try upping your GPU fan speeds as a temporary fix

And, what type of processor did you use with your GTX275? Like you mentioned before, it was E2200 right? E2200 will bottleneck badly with GTX275. So i recommend a new processor unless you have upgraded already.

42'c is really very good already,

u should only start to worry when ur gpu temp reach above 70'c ,

my 3850 runs on 45'c idle, and during load is 62'c .

of course, to maximize cooling efficiency, a good casing with good airflow should be used, adding fans will help reduce ambient temp by 1-4'c depending on casing air flow.

worst case scenario of high temp is that blue screen/artifacts appear. or if thermal cut-off fails, ur gpu fries.
