Sarawak police swoop on massage parlours

MIRI: Police carried out a series of raids on massage parlours throughout the state since April 1 and arrested 42 foreign women suspected of being involved in prostitution.

State CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Dev Kumar said a total of 12 raids were carried out with the latest one conducted here on Monday night.

“The Sarawak CID teams are knocking on the doors of massage parlours and reflexology centres throughout Sarawak that are suspected of offering prostitution services.

“These centres function under the guise of providing body and foot massages but they are actually offering sexual services.

“We launched raids in Sibu, Miri, Kuching, Bintulu and Padawan,” he said.

SAC Dev said 42 foreign women from China, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia were detained in the raids.

He said police had gathered evidence to show that many of the reflexology and massage centres were actually vice dens.
