MIRI (Bernama) – A man who threatened to kill his wife and parents-in-law was arrested by the police in Kampung Tunku Abdul Rahman Batu 10, Lambir, at 8.30pm yesterday.
Miri police chief ACP Khoo Leng Huat said apart from the threats, the self-employed 40-year-old had also strangled his 37-year-old wife in the incident which occurred at 10pm on Sunday.
“The husband had brought a machete threatening to kill the victim and her parents who live in Tudan.
“Fearing for her life, the victim and her children fled the house,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Khoo said according to the victim’s wife, the suspect who had undergone drug rehabilitation treatment in Kuching was hot tempered, and often became violent when angry.
“The victim, who was unable to tolerate the attitude of the suspect any longer, was scared to go home. She then lodged a police report,” he added.
The case was being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
