BRUNEI’S Mukun Selendang Sutera team was the first runner-up in the Group A category for the ‘Bermukun’ competition of the fourth Sarawakiana Carnival held in Miri, Sarawak recently.
The competition was held for two nights, with teams from Miri, Bekenu, Bintulu, Mukah, Labuan and Brunei Darussalam participating in it.
Leading the Brunei delegation to Miri was Haji Mohd Daud bin Haji Matarsad, who is also the manager of Mukun Selendang Sutera.
The guest of honour was Adam Yii Siew Sang, the Mayor of Miri.
The prizes were presented to the winning teams by Associate Professor Dr Shahren Ahmad Zaidi Adruce, a board member of the management at Pustaka Negeri Sarawak.
Gemersik Kedayan from Bekenu, Miri, was the overall champion of the two-day competition, while Putera Puteri from Mukah came third.
In Category B for Under 18, the champion was Cabi Gerunong from Miri, Sawarak. Second place went to the sibling duo of Mukun, while Dewa Dewi – a combined group from Brunei and Miri – took third place.
