25 Vietnamese fishermen detained in Miri waters

MIRI (Bernama) – The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) detained 25 Vietnamese fishermen and seized three tons of fish in the Operasi Permai off Miri waters at 12.05pm yesterday.

Miri MMEA deputy director of Operation Maritime Commander Mohd Hambali Yaakup said 16 out of the 25 fishermen, aged between 17 to 58, did not have any documents of identification.

“The current value of the catches seized is between RM30,000 and RM50,000,” he told reporters at the MMEA Vessel Detention jetty in Pulau Melayu yesterday.
